For decades, career politicians have thrown millions of dollars at the homeless crisis with no real solutions. Having been homeless myself, I know what needs to be done. Increased funding for drug and alcohol treatment, strong economy with entry level jobs, affordable short-term housing is a good start. Far too many government programs trap people in poverty. People need a hand up not a handout.
